Podcast Transcripts

German Words Explained is a collection of 160 podcasts in which we talk about words, expressions and abbreviations that have either made their way into the German language, or are essential for navigating through the bureaucracy of living in Germany.

When we first started the serious we spoke very slowly, but over the course of 2½ years we introduced more conversation elements and began to speak at normal speed.

Some of the topics covered are:

Cars
Trains
Post
Easter
Christmas
Public holidays
Deutsch als Fremdsprache
East Germany
Carnival
Tax
Politics
Telecommunications
Media

Transcripts of many of the podcasts are available as PDF files in our Download Store – and each month we are adding more.  Podcasts that already have transcripts available have a “Buy a Transcript” button which takes you straight to the right item in the store.

We’d like to show you what the transcripts look like, so we’ll send you a sample from one of our favourite episodes: The Käseigel.  All you have to do is enter your e-mail in the field below.

We will not subscribe you to our normal newsletter, but we will notify you when new transcripts become available.  You can, of course, unsubscribe from these notifications at any time.
